This project explores the entangled relationship between the industrialization of the textile industry and its lasting imprint on culture, bodies, and place. In Guimarães, Portugal, a city deeply rooted in textile production. I reflect on how past, present, and future are woven into material histories, and how these narratives persist within the rhythms of daily life.

Approaching textile as a form of skin, I consider the traces left by bodies, on fabrics, in spaces of care, and within systems of labor. Working with linen from Têxteis Penedo and industrial cotton, I developed sculptural forms that engage both the physical qualities of cloth and its social and ecological weight.

Central to the work is the idea of interdependence: how fragile systems, material, human, environmental, can unravel when strained, but also how they might be reimagined through care, reuse, and attention. Inspired by practices of mending and repurposing, the work reflects on cycles of use, exhaustion, and transformation, while questioning how we might reshape our relationship to resources and to one another.
